Series d'invincibilite : que prouve vraiment une serie de 770 minutes

Les longues series sans encaisser sont des reussites collectives portant le nom d'un gardien.

A streak of eight or nine matches without conceding is roughly 770 minutes of football. Stated alone, it is a headline. Stated in context, it is still worth something.

What it is not

It is not a goalkeeping metric in the strict sense. Not conceding requires a defence that limits shot quality, a midfield that slows transitions, and often a schedule that avoids the strongest opponents in that stretch.

What it is

Streaks reward consistency of decision-making. Over 770 minutes a goalkeeper will face crosses in bad weather, at least one one-against-one, several set pieces, and probably one shot that should have gone in. Coming through all of it without a lapse is a real signal about concentration and error rate.

How to compare streaks

Compare them within a tier, not across tiers. Shot volume and shot quality differ sharply between a fifth-tier group and a professional division.

The honest summary

A long unbeaten run tells you a team defended well and its goalkeeper did not make the mistake that ends such runs. Both halves of that sentence are worth publishing; neither half is worth publishing alone.
