Atlético Madrid Agree Fee with Tottenham for Cristian Romero

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sell captain Cristian Romero to Atlético Madrid. According to reports from the BBC and The Guardian, the La Liga side have agreed a fee in the region of £34.1m to £34.2m for the centre-back.

The Guardian reports that Romero was given permission to leave North London by Tottenham and head coach Roberto De Zerbi following a turbulent 2025-26 campaign. The defender served four separate suspensions during the course of that season.

Inter target Spence as defensive shifts continue

Romero is not the only Tottenham defender drawing interest from continental Europe. The BBC reports that Italian club Inter Milan are in advanced negotiations to sign Spurs and England full-back Djed Spence.

The proposed deal for Spence is reportedly valued at a minimum of £25.6m. Should both moves be finalized, Tottenham's defensive line would undergo significant alterations ahead of the new campaign.

Hull City complete double defensive signing

Elsewhere in English football, Hull City have officially confirmed two additions to their central defence. The club completed the signing of Nobel Mendy from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano for a club-record transfer fee.

In addition to Mendy, Hull have also secured the services of defender Lucas Herrington from Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids to bolster their squad.
